Be a Traveler, Not a Tourist !

 Yukon Expedition 8

It's never been this close!
That was almost my last tour ...

I've already covered tens of thousands of kilometers in folding boats, and there have always been dicey situations along the way.

But never because of bad material, the Nautiraid Grand Raid II 540 was the worst boat I have ever driven, and it is an absolute sham with grotto poor quality and extremely poor driving characteristics.

That boat almost cost me my life!

How a company can produce such crap is really beyond me, especially as they had good boats!

I took the following movies with a small Pentax W-90 and converted them from HD to Mpeg4 and downsized them extremely, so please excuse the bad quality !
I just had to save memory to keep the loading times on the website bearable !

While paddling on Lake Laberge, it quickly became apparent that the Nautiraid Grand Raid 540 folding boat could hardly be steered in slightly larger waves and on fast-flowing water !

It was by far the worst boat I have ever driven, never again will I use a Nautiraid built after 2003 ...

                        Unfortunately,

everything is spoken in German...

I capsized, 3 seconds more underwater and that would have been it...

Rain in the Dawson City Hostel...
I actually wanted to stop in Dawson after the capsize, but I had to do half of the Yukon, so I continued to the Yukon Bridge on the Dalton Hwy ....

How could it be otherwise...
RAIN, RAIN, RAIN ...
I've never been on a trip where it rained for weeks like on this one ...

There was something to see during the rain breaks...

I've never paddled that long in one go!
In the end it was 376km in 33.48 hours without any big breaks!
I just wanted to finish the trip, which I did, at the Yukon bridge after about 1600 km ...
It would not have been advisable to continue with this boat ...
